So Now You’re a Manager 2024
2024 Dates TBD / Virtual Workshop
So… now you’re a manager!
WARNING: You might leave this training different than when you arrived.
Plucky is opening pre-registration for the popular So Now You’re A Manager trainings. Next year, there will be at least 2 SNYAM cohorts, dates TBD, and we’re offering you a chance to pre-register! Once we have dates, we’ll email those who have pre-registered and offer you first dibs on spots before we open them to public sales.
The format of every cohort is three virtual workshops across a month, each from 9-12pm PT. This is a great option for those of you losing prof dev budget at the end of the year… or for those who are newly-promoted and want to schedule some foundational prof dev in 2024!
How it works
All cohorts will meet online via Zoom for three half-day workshops across a month in 2024 from 9-12pm PT. Along the way we’ll converse in Slack and you’ll be applying what we learn together to your everyday jobs. Our remote workshops are capped at 12 attendees so we get to know each other.
SNYAM workshops are about preparing, enabling and boosting you to lead with empathy, vulnerability and confidence. We use a thoughtful, curated curriculum that has evolved over 20 cohorts of new managers. Through experiential learning, you’ll learn to coach each other, share experiences, reclaim your own inner wisdom and leverage what you already know. You’ll leave with a set of tools to put your new knowledge into practice immediately.
Specifically, you’ll learn:
– defining your leadership style
– practicing hard conversations
– spelling out what success looks like in the role
– finding accountability partners
– talking genuinely about managing UP
– acknowledging and preparing for burn-out
– strategies for giving feedback
– what to do in a 1:1
– how to move things forward
Feedback from our alumni suggests that it’s helpful to have a few months experience managing before attending — this allows you to leverage your experience so far. You’re a good fit for this workshop if you’ve been managing for less than 5 years, you’re hungry to learn, eager to try and open to sharing. After the event ends, you’ll be added to an alumni Slack to keep up with the community.
Please note: every SNYAM cohort includes 1 SNYAM Equity Scholarship. The Scholarship covers the price of the SNYAM ticket, is designed to reduce inequity in leadership trainings and welcomes individuals from underrepresented groups to the SNYAM community. This includes, but is not limited to: Black people, Indigenous people and other people of color, people with disabilities, marginalized genders, LGBTI+. Interested? Apply here.
Our community has a Code of Conduct. All attendees and community members are expected to adhere to it.
Our cancellation policy is simple; full refund until 1 month prior to the first day of class. After that, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else and handle financials with them.

Here’s What Our Clients Have to Say
This was an amazing opportunity to get a peek into the minds of other managers/leaders in the industry and then analyze and refine my own processes in order to be a better manager myself. Jen's ability to guide groups and keep every moment fecund with helpful information is a magic power.
Dan, Development Manager
It was a journey. I really loved the last session - it felt like it was finally clicking for me - sad it was over. I also loved the chance for 1-1 activities with Jen and others. Amazing to build more of a connection with folks. Also Jen is clearly an AMAZING coach!
MJ, Engineering Manager
It was an absolutely pleasure that I looked forward to each week.
Peter, Director of Technology
Having been through business school and plenty of really boring, corporate training nonsense, it was really nice to have a program focused on humans, relationships between humans, and all the human emotions that come with the job.
Fran, Director of Strategy
